※About rarity

Leitz WEISU mini finder for 35mm lenses. This example features a black-painted body with a nickel foot, along with a silver-inlaid E. Leitz Wetzlar engraving. Among the various WEISU versions, this is probably the most sought-after type.

The WEISU finder was produced from 1933 to 1943. Its minimal and compact design looks equally at home on a Barnack Leica or a black-painted M-series body. Paired with a lens such as the Elmar 35mm f3.5, it is an irresistible accessory for lovers of black Leica cameras.

After the war, its lineage continued with the celebrated SBLOO finder. The WEISU is one of those Leica accessories we wish had remained in production a little longer, and today it has become a genuinely scarce collectible.

A little brass is beginning to show through the black paint in various areas, but there are no noticeable dents or impact marks. For a black WEISU approaching 90 years old, this example is in remarkably good condition. The four original screws securing the accessory shoe, which are often missing, are all still present.

The glass has been cleaned, and the view is clear and bright.

Its beautifully aged appearance is a perfect match not only for black Barnack Leicas such as the DII and DIII, but also for cameras like the black-paint M3.
