A set of Leica screw mount interchangeable lenses made by A. Schacht of Germany. All three lenses listed in the original catalog, 35mm, 90mm, and 135mm, are beautifully assembled here, just as shown in the photos! All feature distinctive zebra-style barrels, Leica screw mounts, and rangefinder coupling. The Travegon 35mm and Travenar 90mm are relatively easy to find, but the 135mm is somewhat rarer.
A. Schacht was a mid-sized German lens manufacturer founded after World War II by Albert Schacht, who had previously worked at Zeiss, Steinheil, and other optical companies. The company had its factory in Ulm, a beautiful city on the Danube in southern Germany, famous for its cathedral. Its early operations were based in Munich.
Schacht lenses were known for their excellent optical performance and solid construction. Although relatively affordable, they offered high quality and excellent value for money. The company's main products were lenses for SLR cameras, such as M42 and Exakta mounts, but it also produced a small number of Leica screw mount lenses like these.
The wide-angle Travegon 35mm f3.5 features 6 elements in 3 groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 1m. Actual weight is 264g.
The short telephoto Travenar 90mm f2.8 features 4 elements in 3 groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 1m. Surprisingly, it also weighs exactly 264g (!!).
The telephoto Travenar 135mm f3.5 features 4 elements in 4 groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 1.5m. Actual weight is 325g. The 135mm has a detachable lens head, allowing it to be mounted on a Visoflex for photography.
All three lenses share the same 48mm screw-in filter size.
Although these lenses are relatively common in Germany, finding all three in good condition and assembling a complete set exactly as illustrated in the original catalog would be quite a challenge.
We were fortunate to acquire this precious set from a passionate collector. We sincerely hope the next owner will enjoy and cherish these three lenses together as a complete set.
All three lenses are in quite nice cosmetic condition, with only minor scuffs and small scratches. The black paint is also well preserved.
The 35mm and 90mm lenses underwent a full overhaul, including focus adjustment, in September 2026. Both aperture rings and helicoids now operate smoothly with a pleasant feel. Rangefinder coupling is also spot on.
The 135mm has not been serviced. Although the helicoid torque is slightly uneven, it operates properly. Servicing can also be arranged at an additional cost upon request. Rangefinder coupling is good.
The glass of all three lenses is clear and bright, with no haze. Test shots taken with our Leica M10-P demonstrated excellent resolution even wide open. All three lenses deliver very pleasing images.
The set comes with a colorful original catalog from the period, as well as genuine front and rear caps for all three lenses. The Travegon 35mm also comes with its original box with matching serial number.
