A compact Leitz ball head. Leica product code FOOMI / 14105. Both the male and female threads are the larger tripod thread size. This example features the earlier hexagonal Leitz logo.
The upper platform and the main body bearing the hexagonal logo are made of aluminum, while the wing screw and lower base are chrome-plated.
Leitz ball heads are famous for their extraordinarily elaborate construction, something you can appreciate the moment you handle one. This particular example was made during the peak era of Leitz craftsmanship. With only light pressure on the wing screw, it locks firmly into position and will not budge.
Not only a beautifully made accessory, but still a first-class practical tool even today. A wonderful piece that embodies the Leica spirit of uncompromising craftsmanship.
Previously sold by our shop, this item has been carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us. This will be the third time we have offered it for sale. We are always happy to buy back not only cameras and lenses, but accessories as well 😃
There are some light rub marks on the locking knob, but overall, it is in remarkably clean condition for a small Leitz ball head. The felt on the base, which is often found peeling or deteriorated, also remains in very good condition.
The mechanism operates with a firm, precise feel. The price includes domestic shipping.
