A wonderfully understated half-frame classic, the Olympus Pen Wide. Manufactured around 1964 to 1965 and using standard 135 film. Based on the Olympus Pen S, it is fitted with a bright 25mm f2.8 wide-angle lens. The brass body is finished in black paint, giving it the kind of character that will appeal even to serious black-paint enthusiasts. The bubbling of the paint and exposed brass have an atmosphere reminiscent of black-paint Leica M3 and M2 bodies.

Despite its compact size, the Pen Wide has a sharp, purposeful appearance and excellent optical performance, making it a camera with strong appeal to vintage camera enthusiasts. This particular example has aged beautifully, with just the right amount of wear and patina. It would also make an excellent second camera alongside a black-paint body.

Although it shows relatively little use, this example already has a wonderfully attractive character. There is still only minimal paint wear and bubbling, so it is ready to be used heavily and develop even more patina over time. No dents or noticeable scratches are present.
All functions operate properly, and the finder is clear and bright.
The lens is also clear and bright, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze.
An original Olympus UV filter and lens cap are included. The filter shows many fine scratches.
