Leica M2 Black Paint, late version. Fully original. Serial number in the 1.05 million range, from a batch of 250 cameras shipped on October 24, 1962.

Equipped with a self-timer. Large tripod thread.

The exterior has developed a wonderfully attractive patina from years of use, while all major components remain original. It is an ideal example for actual use as well as appreciation.

This very camera was offered at the 2nd/3rd Westlicht Auction in Vienna, Austria, the renowned camera auction now known as Leitz Auction. It was later thoroughly serviced in Japan, and the smoothness of its operation is truly outstanding.

This camera had been treasured for many years by one of our customers. There is one small dent below the M2 engraving on the top cover, but no other noticeable dents or significant impact marks.

It was likely used extensively by a professional photographer in its earlier years. The black paint has worn away naturally in the areas most often touched by the fingers, revealing the brass beneath and giving the camera a wonderfully aged character.

A full overhaul was carried out while it was with the previous owner, and we also inspected all functions at our shop last year. The smoothness of operation is exceptional, with particularly fine feel to the film advance and shutter. The finder view is also excellent.

The original gutta-percha covering remains in very good condition, with no chips or missing areas.

The included body cap is the rare black-finished brass type.

An excellent example for both collection and regular use.
