Elmarit-R 35mm f2.8. This example is the early so-called Red Scale version, with the distance markings engraved in red. It was introduced alongside the original Leicaflex. Originally a 1-cam lens, it was factory-converted by Leitz to 2-cam specification. The Leitz product code is 11201. Serial number in the 2.04 million range, manufactured in 1964. 7 elements in 5 groups. Series 6 filter size.

The Elmarit-R 35mm f2.8 enjoyed a relatively long production run among Leica R lenses, remaining in production until 1979 with several design changes along the way. The minimum focusing distance is 0.3m, allowing remarkably close focusing for a classic wide-angle lens.

This is an item previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us once again.

There are some small marks and scuffs around the front of the lens from attaching and removing the hood, but otherwise there are no noticeable scratches or scuffs, and the overall appearance is quite clean. There is also a small ding on the edge around the mount, but this does not affect mounting or focusing.

A full overhaul was completed in 2025. Thanks to careful servicing, the helicoid remains smooth, and the aperture ring retains a pleasant click-stop feel.

The glass is clear and bright, with no cleaning marks or traces of fungus.
