A FISON lens hood made by Leitz New York, designed for the Elmar 50mm. Made of brass. Chrome-plated examples are occasionally seen, but this one features a rare black paint finish. The side of the base is marked E. Leitz New York in white lettering.

Several variations of the New York Leitz hood for the Elmar 50mm are known, and this example is the type with a locking screw and reinforcing ribs. Unlike the corresponding version made by Leitz in Germany, the front edge has a straighter profile with less rounding. Actual weight is 17.7g.

A rare piece.

There is some paint loss from use, but no dents or distortion are present.

Tested for proper fit on an A36 lens.
