Kinoptik Apochromat 75mm f2, made in France. ALPA mount.
A high-performance lens featuring apochromatic correction. Originally designed primarily for cine applications, this particular example was specially commissioned as a macro lens for ALPA cameras. It is believed to have been manufactured in the mid-1990s.
The lens features a large, impressive barrel that also serves as a hood. Its construction seems to give little consideration to portability as a photographic lens, suggesting that it was designed for a highly specialized purpose.
The optical construction is a double-Gauss design with 6 elements in 4 groups. At f2 wide open, the depth of field is extremely shallow, yet the plane of focus is remarkably sharp and finely detailed. The lens is also renowned for its rich tonal gradation and excellent image quality.
Around the mid-1990s, a renowned camera shop in Tokyo, which has since closed, gathered orders from customers and placed a special order with Kinoptik. Could this lens have been one of those brought into Japan at that time?

A beautiful example showing very little sign of use. There is very slight haze in the inner elements.
Comes with the genuine front cap.
