Hood for the Summaron 28mm f5.6, commonly known as the Red Summaron. Leitz product code SOOBK, later 12500Y. A36 slip-on hood.
A substantial hood finished in crinkle baked enamel. It is an expensive hood, but when mounted on the Red Summaron, its compact yet dignified appearance is quite impressive. A satisfying accessory to own.
A must-have item for anyone who owns a Red Summaron. Which comes first, the lens or the hood? That is the question.
There is slight wear to the crinkle paint on the side opposite the hood retaining screw. There are also a few small areas around the front edge where the brass is beginning to show through, as well as some paint loss inside the mounting area. Overall, however, it shows little sign of use and is in very clean condition.
Fit on the lens has been checked. The original box is also in clean condition. In addition to the SOOBK marking, the box has a 12500Y sticker attached, suggesting that this hood was sold around the time when Leitz was transitioning its product codes from letters to numbers. Also suitable for a collection.
