The second-generation Summicron-M 35mm f2, commonly known as the 6-element version. Leica product code 11309. This Canadian-made example has a serial number in the 2.82 million range and dates from 1977. It is the version without the focusing-tab prongs and accepts E39 filters.

Like the first-generation 8-element version, clean examples of this lens are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Although often overshadowed by the 8-element Summicron, the 6-element version is packed with both ability and character. Its moderately short focusing throw and comfortably shaped focusing tab provide excellent handling, while its slightly subdued color rendition and detailed yet never overly harsh rendering give it a distinctive appeal. Its lightweight and compact design also makes it an ideal match for Leica M cameras.

This particular example is in impeccable condition, with no visible signs of use.

Originally sold by our store, this lens was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us. It remains just as beautiful as when previously sold, with no visible signs of use.

A full overhaul, including focus adjustment, was completed in 2025. Thanks to the thorough servicing, both the aperture ring and helicoid remain exceptionally smooth in operation. Rangefinder coupling is also spot-on.

Matching its beautiful exterior, the glass is wonderfully clear and bright, with no haze or cleaning marks. The results of our test shooting were also excellent.

The 12504 hood, Series 7 filter, original rear cap, and a reproduction front cap are included.
