A very nice Rolleiflex Standard in quite clean condition. This is the Model 622, produced from 1934 to 1938. The taking lens is a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 75mm f3.5, the fastest lens offered in the Standard series. The Tessar also has an early pale blue coating. It takes 120 film in 6x6 format. The top shutter speed is 1/500 sec., with a Compur shutter. Actual weight is 778g.

Incidentally, the most popular Standard model among collectors has long been the one fitted with the slowest f4.5 Tessar, the Model 620. The f4.5 Standard was produced in relatively small numbers to begin with, and clean examples are rarely seen. If you happen to come across one, please do let us know, haha.

Its gentle handling, with the black and nickel finish somewhat reminiscent of the Leica Model A, and its compact, charming appearance are part of its appeal. The wonderfully old-fashioned character of its images is also outstanding. ✨️

There are some areas of paint loss and small scratches on the body, but no conspicuous scratches or dents. Overall, it is in relatively nice cosmetic condition for a Rolleiflex Standard. The nameplate, exposure table on the back door, and depth-of-field scale around the hood, all of which are prone to paint loss, remain in beautiful condition.

All functions are working well. Under the previous owner, the camera was overhauled by a professional repairer, including replacement of the mirror. The focusing screen has also been replaced with a later resin type, making the finder much easier to view.

The Tessar lens has a fair amount of cleaning marks, along with some coating deterioration and traces of fungus around the periphery. These may have some effect when shooting against the light, but the glass condition is reasonably good for a prewar Rolleiflex.

Comes with the original lens cap, original leather strap, two sets of Proxar close-up lenses, 1x and 2x, a yellow filter, and a Japanese-made hood.
