Summicron-M 35mm f2 ASPH. in black paint, a limited-edition version introduced alongside the Leica M6 Millennium. Manufactured in Germany in 2006. Leica product code 11611.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. It has no 6-bit coding. Actual measured weight is 337g.
Following the 8-element, 6-element, and 7-element versions, this is the fourth-generation Summicron 35mm f2. It features 7 elements in 5 groups, including an aspherical element. It delivers sharp, precise rendering even wide open, while its rich, smooth bokeh carries on the classic Summicron tradition.
There is very slight paint loss on the front edge of the barrel, the aperture ring, and the edges of the vertical knurling on the barrel, but otherwise the lens remains in very clean condition. No noticeable scratches or other significant marks are present.
All functions have been inspected. Both the helicoid and aperture ring operate properly, with a smooth and pleasant feel.
There is extremely minor balsam separation at the very edge of the rear element, but it should have virtually no effect on actual images. Otherwise, the glass is clear and bright, with no haze or cleaning marks. Rangefinder coupling is spot-on.
The original front and rear caps and a 13131 UVa filter are included. The front cap has a minor dent.
