The Leitz original film cutting guide, ABLON, later designated 14126.
Manufactured between 1931 and 1964. This example is the final version of the ABLON, with the tip once again given the same squared-off shape as the early model. It is beautifully finished in matte bead-blasted chrome.

A closer look reveals that the Leitz logo is written in script. Even after checking our past sales records, we could not find another example with this script logo. It is also not listed among the ABLON variations featured in Leica: An Illustrated History, Volume III by James L. Lager.

Loading film into a screw-mount Leica can be tricky until you get used to it. Cutting the film leader along this guide makes the process much smoother.

A thoughtful little accessory that reflects Leitz’s attention to detail. Beautifully made and full of the Leitz spirit, showing that no corners were cut even with its accessories.

There are light signs of wear throughout, but the overall appearance is good. It also opens and closes with a pleasing feel.
