Leitz waist-level 50mm reflex finder, AUFSU. This is the later version, introduced in 1932. The field of view corresponds to a 50mm lens.

It is designed to be mounted on the accessory shoe. When mounted sideways at a 90-degree angle, it can also be used as a right-angle eye-level finder. Compact and precisely made in typical Leitz fashion, it is an appealing little accessory.

Practicality aside, this is the kind of Leitz accessory that makes you want to mount it on a Leica Model A, DII, or DIII just for the pleasure of it. This example is engraved Germany on the side, suggesting that it was intended for export.

Rare item.

There are some scuffs on the side with the Germany engraving, but otherwise the black paint remains very well preserved, giving it a very clean overall appearance.

There is no noticeable dust or debris inside, and the view through the finder is very clear. It is in exceptionally nice condition for an AUFSU finder.

It comes with the original leather case, which is also very clean and matches the condition of the finder itself. A difficult example to find in such condition.
