The Leica pistol grip winder, introduced in 1935. The Leitz code is SCNOO. This example comes in a black and nickel finish. It is a handy accessory that allows the film to be advanced quickly and smoothly with the left hand.
Once attached, it instantly gives your Barnack Leica an exceptionally striking appearance. The tripod socket uses the smaller thread.
Compatible with Leica DII, DIII, IIIa, and other models with serial numbers from 159000 onward. Earlier models may also be used if the film advance shaft is modified with a notch. However, it may not fit Leica Model A cameras and early DII and DIII bodies made up to around 1933, as the body lug engaged by the pistol grip is smaller. Please contact us if you are unsure about compatibility.
These have become rather expensive accessories for enthusiasts in recent years, but they remain endlessly tempting items for any Barnack Leica user.
A rare find.
Previously sold by our shop, this Leica pistol grip winder was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us once again. Welcome back for the third time!
It was serviced throughout in 2023 and remains in the same good condition as when we last sold it. There are some signs of use, including light rubbing, but the black paint and nickel plating show relatively little wear. Overall, this is a very presentable Leica pistol grip winder. The subdued shine of the nickel finish is particularly attractive. The ribbon was replaced by a previous owner.
Depending on the camera body, the film may not advance fully with a single pull. In many cases, however, the cause lies with the camera body rather than the pistol grip itself. Should this occur, we can adjust the synchronization between the grip and your camera. A service charge will apply to camera bodies purchased elsewhere.
A must-have accessory for owners of black-and-nickel Barnack Leicas. These have become increasingly scarce in recent years and are now extremely difficult to find.
A rare item.
