A set comprising the Prominent I, Voigtländer’s postwar flagship leaf-shutter camera, and the renowned Nokton 50mm f1.5. The Nokton is a late version manufactured in 1959.
The Nokton was designed by Dr. Albrecht Tronnier, who also designed the Xenon 50mm f1.5. It features a 7-element, 5-group optical construction. At or near wide open, it produces beautiful images with a sharp, well-resolved centre surrounded by softly rendered edges. Its relatively compact size for a fast, large-aperture lens is another advantage that makes it a pleasure to use.
The Prominent body has not been serviced and should be considered a complimentary extra. Our warranty covers the lens only.
Although adapters have become increasingly difficult to find, the lens can also be enjoyed on Leica cameras using an adapter with a built-in helicoid.
It shows little sign of use and presents quite nicely overall. The included genuine filter and 49mm internal-thread hood are in matching condition.
Although the body is not covered by our warranty, the shutter fires at all speeds. The finder shows some haze, but remains usable.
A slight amount of balsam separation typical of the Nokton can be seen around the edge of the front element. However, there is no haze, and the glass retains excellent clarity. This would be an ideal set for enjoying photography without having to be overly cautious.
Comes with a 310/49 internal-thread hood, 317/49 internal-thread UV filter, case, and rare body cap.
