Elmarit-R 90mm f2.8, 3-cam. A medium telephoto lens for the Leica R system. Serial number in the 2.93 million range, manufactured in 1978. Leitz product code 11239.
Originally introduced in 1964 for the Leicaflex, it was updated to a 2-cam version with the arrival of the Leicaflex SL, and its optical design was later revised when the Leica R3 was introduced.
Although this particular lens was manufactured after the introduction of the Leica R3, it is the earlier type made before the optical redesign.
Series 7 filters can be used with an adapter ring. The hood is a built-in two-stage telescopic type. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.
The exterior is very clean, showing almost no signs of use. It retains much of the appearance and feel it had when new.
All functions operate properly. Both the aperture ring and helicoid feel smooth and pleasant to use.
A slight haze can be seen around the edges of the middle and rear elements, while the central area remains clear. Professional glass cleaning is also available at additional cost upon request.
The results of our test shoot were very good. The lens delivers natural, pleasing images with no unusual character, even wide open.
The matching original box and rear cap are included.
