Canon 25mm f3.5. Introduced in 1956, when Canon was actively developing lenses for the Leica screw mount. It features a 5 elements in 3 groups optical design. At the time of its release, it was the fastest ultra-wide-angle lens available. Distance scale is in meters.

Wide open, the center is impressively sharp, while the image gradually softens toward the edges, giving photographs a distinctive character.

Many of Canon’s vintage wide-angle lenses are known for their pleasing rendering, and this 25mm is no exception. Another nice feature is that it shows virtually no color shift even when used on a digital Leica M.

Its slim, compact design makes it easy to slip into a bag and ideal for snapshot photography. A great companion for an autumn trip as well!

The barrel is in beautiful condition with hardly any signs of use. The plating is also well preserved.

A full overhaul was completed in September 2026. Both the aperture ring and helicoid now operate smoothly. Rangefinder coupling is also spot-on.

The glass shows only very slight coating deterioration that is barely visible even under a strong LED light, and it should have virtually no effect on actual images. Test shots also produced excellent results. Near wide open, the lens delivers an elegant, delicate rendering with rich falloff toward the edges. Stopping down by about three stops reduces the falloff and noticeably increases contrast.

Comes with the original leather case with its original box, three genuine filters: UV, SL, and yellow, front and rear caps, and the dedicated finder. The finder glass has been cleaned and provides a clear view.
