The king of twin-lens reflex cameras, the Rolleiflex 2.8F. This example has a serial number in the 2.4 million range and was manufactured around 1960, when sales of the 2.8F began. You can enjoy the rendering of the Planar 80mm lens on the spacious 6x6 medium-format frame. It has a convenient built-in coupled exposure meter. The finder hood is removable. The hood mount is Bayonet III, compatible with Bay 3 accessories. The focusing screen is a split-image type with grid lines.
The exterior is not overly pristine, but has just the right amount of character. It has been fully serviced for this sale and is working very smoothly. A 2.8F you can use without hesitation.
This item was originally sold by our shop. It was carefully used by its previous owner and has now returned to us.
There is one minor ding near the shutter release on the lens board, one small touch-up of the black paint near the corner of the focusing hood, and some rubbing in areas that are commonly touched by fingers. Overall, however, it remains a fairly clean example.
It was overhauled by a specialist in 2026. The winding crank, a key part of Rolleiflex operation, works smoothly, and the shutter and aperture dials, focusing knob, and other moving parts all operate with a smooth feel. The exposure meter is also working and indicates values that are fully practical for actual use.
The lens has a few cleaning marks on the front element, along with some coating deterioration often seen on Planar lenses from this era, but this should not affect actual shooting. For a 2.8F with Planar, the glass is in reasonably nice condition.
It comes with the genuine metal cap, diffuser, and a third-party strap. A great camera for practical use!
