VEHIG + LOOCG. A set consisting of a housing with ground glass and a sliding 5x magnifier. Made around 1933.
This is the early version, with the magnifier simply sliding into place rather than using the later bayonet-type fitting. Originally intended as an attachment for copying equipment, it can also be used for checking the field of view and focusing.
In the digital camera era, its practicality may be limited, but it is an interesting accessory that reflects Leica’s thoughtful approach to supporting photographers in an age when convenient tools were far less readily available.
This example has the T-shaped tripod mounting plate.
A somewhat scarce accessory.
There is slight distortion to the tripod mounting plate. Otherwise, the set shows some signs of use, including light rubbing.
The magnifier glass has slight haze and some dust inside, but this does not interfere with practical use as a magnifier. A nice addition to a Leica collection.
The price includes domestic shipping within Japan.
