Leica MP Anthracite. Serial number in the 3 million range. Made in Germany. Introduced in 2004.
This model was released in a limited edition of 600 units to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Leica M system. This example has its dedicated serial number, 565/600, engraved on the accessory shoe. The deep gray metallic finish gives it a distinctive yet understated appearance. In addition to the standard baseplate, the matching Leicavit in the dedicated color is also included. It looks extremely cool when fitted with the Leicavit.
Although not included with this example, the lens supplied for this model was the silver Summicron 35mm f2 ASPH. Its exterior design paid homage to the original eight-element Summicron. It also came with a dedicated anthracite-colored 12504-style hood.
This is definitely a camera that looks best paired with a silver lens. The original eight-element Summicron and the Summaron 35mm f2.8 also suit it beautifully. Incidentally, it is also an excellent match with the reissue Steel Rim Summilux. When paired together, they bring out a modern Leica look with great presence.
Like new condition. No signs of use can be seen. The lens mount is also very clean. There is one extremely fine hairline mark on the corner of the front top cover near the winding lever, and one tiny mark on the bottom corner of the Leicavit, just below and to the left of the Leicavit logo. Both are so faint that you would likely not notice them unless pointed out.
All functions work properly. The finder view is clear, and the light meter is working accurately.
Comes with the original box, inner box only, Japanese instruction manual, dedicated Leicavit 14451, spare battery cap, and body cap.
