Angénieux 90mm f2.5, late version. Type Y12. Made in 1960. M42 mount. 4 elements in 4 groups. Meter scale.
This lens has a screw hole for a retaining screw on the threaded section of the mount, so we believe it was originally made for Rectaflex, with a specification that converts to M42 when the adapter ring is removed.
There is also a Type Y1 version of the Angénieux 90mm f2.5, but the optical construction is slightly different. The Y12 is attractive for its crisp sharpness at the plane of focus even from wide open, along with its rich background bokeh.
Please enjoy it on a variety of SLR and mirrorless cameras via an adapter.
This lens was previously sold by our shop, carefully used by its owner, and has now returned to us once again. This is the third time we have handled it.
Just as when we last sold it, it shows little sign of use and is in quite beautiful cosmetic condition for an Angénieux. The black paint, which is often prone to fading, remains very well preserved.
All parts operate very smoothly. It appears to have been carefully serviced in the past.
The front element shows slight coating deterioration and a few very shallow hairline cleaning marks, but there are no wipe marks or haze of the kind often seen on Angénieux lenses. The glass is clear and beautiful. The coating also remains well preserved on each surface. This is a rare example of a Type Y12 with such clean glass.
It comes with an aftermarket hood, Tiffen adapter ring, Leitz Series VI UVa filter, genuine front cap, and reproduction rear cap.
