Leica M2 Black Paint with self-timer. Serial number 1075xxx, shipped on August 5, 1963. A well-used and striking black paint example. All parts, including the gutta-percha, are original.
This M2 Black Paint has been used just the right amount and has a very sharp, attractive appearance. It has also seen appropriate use after servicing, and all functions operate smoothly, making it well suited for practical use as well.
There are small dents near the Leica logo, near the frame counter, and near the tripod socket on the baseplate, but none of them are particularly noticeable.
Perhaps this camera was used professionally: over many years of use, the black paint has worn away, revealing the brass beneath with a wonderful character. There is also bubbling in various areas, which adds even more to its attractive appearance. Both the paint wear and bubbling have occurred naturally, with no artificial-looking areas.
The gutta-percha covering shows no chips or losses and remains fully original.
This camera was regularly used by one of our customers until recently. The wind-on and shutter both feel very good, the finder is bright and clear, and there is no balsam separation.
A fully original Leica M2 Black Paint, just right for practical use as well.
