SBOOI, later 12015, a 50mm life-size finder for Leica. A Leitz masterpiece of simple functional beauty, with outstanding finder clarity.

This example is an early version with 5cm engraving and a mixture of lowercase lettering. The eyepiece is chrome. It is a somewhat rare type, with no anti-slip knurling on either side of the finder body, a retaining screw on the shoe mount to prevent it from slipping out, and four set screws used to secure the foot.

There are many variations of the SBOOI, and this example also gives a sense of Leitz still exploring the final form of the design. It is likely to be a very early example among the early SBOOI types.

This finder was previously sold by our shop. It was cherished by its owner and has now returned to us. At Flashback Camera, we are always happy to welcome accessories back as well.

The exterior shows a slightly greater amount of light rubbing.

The glass has slight balsam separation along the edge on the eyepiece side, a small spot of balsam separation, and extremely fine cleaning marks, but none of these affect the view. You can enjoy the clear, bright view with excellent clarity that is characteristic of the SBOOI.
