Only 400 examples were produced between 1963 and 1966. This black-barrel example was made in 1966. According to records in the Oberkochen edition of the Zeiss telephone book, 200 chrome-barrel examples were produced in 1963, followed by 200 black-barrel examples in 1966. Actual weight is 256g. A rare piece.
This is one we previously sold. It was carefully used by our customer and has now returned to us.
Just as when we sold it last time, there are almost no signs of use, and it remains in exceptionally beautiful condition. Its appearance is still beautiful enough to call near-new. The chrome plating on the flange at the front of the lens still shines brilliantly.
Fully overhauled in 2025. The helicoid ring, which often tends to become heavy on this lens, operates very smoothly. Thanks to the careful servicing, that excellent feel remains unchanged.
Just like its beautiful exterior, the glass is also free from cleaning marks or haze, and is wonderfully clear. The beautiful purple-toned coating remains well preserved on each surface.
This S-Planar lets you enjoy its true rendering performance. The results from our test shooting were also excellent. As with the same lens we have handled in the past, its rendering never fails to surprise us. Although they are from the previous time we sold it, sample images have been posted in our Sample Gallery.
The original front cap and plastic case are included. The serial number on the case also matches the lens. A fine example, also well suited for a collection.
