Summilux-M 75mm f1.4 1st version. This is the separate-hood model introduced in 1980. Leitz product code 11814. Serial number in the 3.15 million range, manufactured in 1981 by Leitz Canada.
Debuting alongside the Leica M4-P, which featured 75mm bright-line frame lines, this medium telephoto lens belongs to the Summilux family. Minimum focusing distance is 0.9m. Actual measured weight is approximately 491g. Filter size is E60.
The beautiful bokeh characteristic of the Summilux series is very much present, along with its rich and gentle rendering around maximum aperture. Compared with a 50mm lens, the longer focal length reduces distortion and renders the subject’s shape more naturally. An ideal lens for portraiture. Despite being a fast f1.4 medium telephoto, its compact size is another appealing feature.
A piece previously sold by our shop has returned to us. Just as it was when we last sold it, the exterior remains truly superb, with a strong sense of newness still in the air. At first glance, there are no signs of use visible on the lens itself, though the hood shows some light wear.
Fully overhauled in 2025, including focus adjustment. The aperture ring and helicoid offer an exquisite feel, with just the right amount of torque. Even the critical focusing near full aperture can be handled without stress. Thanks to careful focus adjustment, rangefinder coupling is spot-on. Since not a few Summilux 75mm lenses have questionable coupling, this is a particularly pleasing point.
In keeping with its beautiful exterior, the glass is clear and crisp, with no cleaning marks or haze. The results of our test shooting were excellent, allowing you to fully enjoy the true performance of the Summilux 75mm.
Comes with the 12539 hood, shared with the Noctilux E60, 13381 UVa filter, and genuine front and rear caps.
