Rolleicord Vb, the popular model in the Rollei twin-lens reflex lineup.
Serial number in the 2,660,000 range, made around 1969. According to the included warranty card, this camera was officially imported into the United Kingdom and sold by a dealer in North London on May 23, 1969.
The camera body, leather case, extension strap, and warranty card with the purchase date and buyer information are all in like-new condition, as if they had travelled through time to the present day.
The Vb is the final form of the Rolleicord, the younger brother of the Rolleiflex. Like the Rolleiflex models of the same period, it features an interchangeable finder hood and focusing screen. It also uses the Light Value system, with the shutter speed and aperture linked together.
The Automat function is omitted, and film loading uses the start-mark system. Film advance is by knob rather than crank, but in actual use it does not feel inconvenient. The simpler mechanism also makes the camera pleasantly lightweight, at 926g on our scale. The genuine focusing screen is a split-image type with grid lines.
The overall quality carries on the standards of the Rolleiflex in its prime, and although it was the more affordable model, it is very well made.
It is in almost new condition, retaining its 1969 appearance remarkably well. Strictly speaking, there are a few extremely minor rub marks, but it appears to have been carefully stored with almost no actual use. A Rolleicord Vb this clean would be very difficult to find today, even after searching all across Japan.
Overhauled by a specialist in June 2026. Thanks to careful servicing, it is now in perfect working order. The finder view is also clear.
The taking lens shows only the slightest coating deterioration, visible only when held up to a strong LED light, but this should have virtually no effect on actual shooting. There is no haze.
The original box, leather case and extension strap with a like-new appearance, matching-number warranty card and import certificate, and a plastic lens cap are included.
A condition that is very hard to find. Highly recommended for a collection.
