The Rolleicord Vb, an entry-level Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex camera. This example has a serial number in the 2.66 million range and was manufactured around 1970.
The Vb was the final and most refined model of the Rolleicord, the younger sibling of the Rolleiflex. Both the finder hood and focusing screen are interchangeable.
Unlike the Rolleiflex, it does not feature the Automat film-loading system, so film is loaded using the start-mark method. Film advance is also by knob rather than crank, but neither of these differences causes any real inconvenience in practical use. The simpler mechanism also makes it pleasantly lightweight, weighing just 931g on our scale.
The overall build quality carries on the standards of Rolleiflex cameras from their golden era. Although it was the more affordable model, it is still exceptionally well made.
A very beautiful Rolleicord Vb that retains much of the atmosphere of a brand-new camera from its era. There are only minor mounting marks on the lens bayonet and a few very small areas of paint loss on the focusing hood. Even the edges of the back door and the tripod mount on the base are exceptionally clean, suggesting that this camera has seen very little use.
In July 2026, it was serviced by a specialist, including lens cleaning, finder cleaning, and a focus check. All controls operate smoothly, and the finder provides a clear and pleasant view.
The taking lens shows only a very slight deterioration of the coating, which should have no effect on actual photography. No noticeable cleaning marks are visible.
The original box, leather case, extension strap, English instruction manual, lens cap, and short cable release are included. A superb example in wonderful condition, also highly suitable for a collection. A difficult one to find in this condition!
