Wide-angle lens for the Nikon S series, the W-Nikkor 35mm f2.5 in its later aluminum-barrel version. Among these, this example is from the later period of the late model production, after the removal of the ・C marking from the Nikkor engraving, yet still just before the final preset-aperture barrel version. Following Nikon’s weight-reduction efforts that began around 1956, the aluminum barrel was finished in a beautiful black paint.
A double Gauss design consisting of 6 elements in 4 groups. Feet scale. The stopper is engraved with the EP mark. Its gracefully tapered, funnel-like design gives the lens a remarkably dignified appearance when mounted on a Nikon S series camera. Bright enough for practical use, it delivers excellent central sharpness already from wide open. The rendering, accompanied by gentle falloff toward the edges, produces images full of atmosphere and character.
The built-in hood-like shape means no hood is really necessary, and the distinctive styling simply looks fantastic. Naturally, the image quality is equally impressive, and the lens can also be thoroughly enjoyed on modern mirrorless cameras.
This lens was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by its owner.
Just as when we sold it last time, the lens remains in beautiful condition. There is slight paint loss along the edge of the name ring, but the black paint still retains its matte texture, and overall it preserves much of its original near-new appearance.
The aperture and helicoid operate properly, and the rangefinder coupling is accurate.
Matching its beautiful exterior, the glass is also wonderfully clean, with no noticeable scratches or haze. It is beautifully clear and crisp.
We also uploaded sample photos to our 試写館 when we sold this lens previously. We hope you will enjoy taking a look.
Original front and rear caps are included.
