Leica R telephoto lens, Apo-Telyt-R 180mm f/3.4. Made in Canada.
Based on a lens specially ordered by the U.S. military in the early 1970s for reconnaissance use and designed by Leitz Canada, this lens was released commercially in 1975. It uses special glass and can be used for photography into the infrared range without correction.
This item has a serial number in the 3,070,000 range and was manufactured in 1980. Compatible filter size: E60.
With its f/3.4 aperture, it is neither too slow nor too heavy, offering excellent handling. The built-in hood and clean, simple design make it a highly portable telephoto lens.
There is very minor paint loss on the edges of the knurled section of the helicoid, but otherwise the exterior is clean with no noticeable scratches or dents.
Both the aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly.
In keeping with its clean exterior, the glass is beautifully clear, with no cleaning marks or haze. The results of our test shots were also excellent.
This lens was carefully kept for many years by one of our customers.
Comes with an E60 UVa filter 13381 and genuine front and rear caps.
