Leica DIII, serial number in the 110,000 range, made in 1933. The Leitz product code is AFOOV. Finished in black paint and nickel plating. It is also known overseas as the Model F or Leica III.

Its compact size fits comfortably in the hand, while the subdued combination of black paint and nickel gives it a wonderfully charming and calming presence. Equipped with strap lugs, a rangefinder with diopter adjustment, and slow shutter speeds, it is a highly refined Barnack Leica in terms of both function and practicality. The top shutter speed is 1/500 sec.

Pair it with a nickel-finished lens and it is a pleasure both to shoot with and simply to admire. Long appreciated by Leica enthusiasts, this is a vintage Leica with a special appeal that speaks directly to the senses.

The base plate shows some paint loss and scuffing from use, and there is a small dent on the corner of the top cover near the Leica logo. Overall, however, the camera remains in very good cosmetic condition.

Fully overhauled in September 2026. All functions are now working smoothly. Both the viewfinder and rangefinder are clear and bright, with strong contrast in the rangefinder patch.
