※About rarity

The second generation of the legendary fast standard lens, the Summicron 50mm f2, proudly made by Leitz. Commonly known as the 6-element Summicron. Serial number in the 2.58 million range, manufactured in 1973 in Germany. Optical construction consists of 6 elements in 5 groups. From this 2nd version onward, the minimum focusing distance was improved to 0.7m. The Leitz product code is 11818.

Often overshadowed by the first-generation Summicron, this second version is nevertheless an excellent performer. The infinity lock was eliminated for improved handling, and the lightweight alloy barrel keeps the weight down to approximately 200g in actual measurement, another welcome feature.

This lens was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us. It was carefully used by its previous owner and remains in excellent condition, just as when we last sold it.
There is slight paint loss on the helicoid ring, the knurled section of the base, and the edge of the front rim, but there are no noticeable dents or major scratches overall, and the barrel remains very clean.

A full overhaul was completed in January 2026. Thanks to the careful servicing, both the click feel of the aperture ring and the torque of the helicoid are exceptionally smooth and satisfying. Rangefinder coupling is spot-on, and focusing is excellent.

The glass has one extremely faint cleaning mark on the front element, but there is no haze or fungus, and the optics are beautifully clear. The results from our test shooting were also excellent.

A third-party front cap, plastic case, and matching serial-numbered original box are included.
