Carl Zeiss Tessar 50mm f2.8 for Contarex. This example is finished in chrome. It was sold from 1960 to 1969, with production said to be 5,978 units.
It was offered as a more affordable standard model, yet the 50mm f2 sold far better. Perhaps this was a phenomenon unique to a high-end camera system like the Contarex.
A 3-group, 4-element construction. The minimum focusing distance is 35cm. With an adapter, this lens can also be enjoyed on mirrorless cameras.
The lens barrel shows signs of use such as scuffs. It is in just the right condition for carefree everyday use.
All functions operate properly, and the helicoid turns smoothly.
The entire front element shows coating deterioration and surface wear. There is also very slight haze around the edge of an internal element, along with some dust inside the lens. If desired, we can arrange servicing for an additional fee.
A good choice for practical use.
