The Alpa 5b is a high-end SLR camera manufactured by Pignons of Switzerland. It features a 45-degree reflex finder and a direct-vision finder with a 50mm field of view. Only 236 units were produced between approximately 1959 and 1966.
The 5b is also highly practical, with its functions kept simple and streamlined, including the omission of a self-timer.
In addition to the classic Macro-Switar, a wide variety of celebrated lenses from around the world can be enjoyed by using genuine Alpa adapters such as the Practibag and Exabag.
Previously sold by us, this camera was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to our shop.
There is slight paint loss on the strap lug on the left side when viewed from the front, as well as along the edge of the top cover. Minor bubbling in the paint can also be seen on both sides of the rear eyepiece and on the base, along with light rubbing around the tripod socket. There are no major scratches or dents, and the camera remains in generally clean condition.
It received a full overhaul in 2024, including replacement of the shutter curtains and ribbons. To ensure it is in the best possible condition for resale, the shutter mechanism was serviced again on this occasion.
The prism in the 45-degree finder is clean, and both it and the direct-vision finder provide a clear view. Fully ready for practical use.
