A lens that stands in complete contrast to the modern trend of compact and lightweight design, with a solid and substantial build, yet delivers truly impressive image quality. Another appealing point is its close focusing capability down to 30cm. It was thoroughly serviced at the time of our previous sale, offering not only outstanding rendering but also an excellent operating feel.
This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned after being carefully used by its owner.
There is some minor paint loss on the edges of the helicoid and aperture rings, but no noticeable scratches or scuffs. Overall, it maintains a good cosmetic condition for a Leica R lens.
It was fully overhauled in 2024. Thanks to meticulous servicing, both the helicoid and aperture ring continue to offer a smooth and pleasant operating feel.
The front element shows a few extremely faint hairline marks that are only visible under strong LED light, and there is slight coating wear on an internal element. However, these do not affect actual shooting performance. Aside from this, there are no noticeable scratches or haze, and the glass is clean and clear with excellent transparency. Overall, this is a very clean example of the early tapered Summicron.
It comes with a 12509 hood that accepts Series 7 filters, along with front and rear caps.
