The Hasselblad 500C — a legendary 6x6 medium format camera. First introduced in 1957, this iconic model was made in Sweden. It features a superb lineup of Carl Zeiss lenses, renowned for their exceptional image quality, ranging from 40mm to 500mm across nine different focal lengths. With full flash synchronization at all shutter speeds, a quickly interchangeable film magazine, and other professional-grade specifications, the 500C earned its place as a definitive medium format camera among professionals.
This particular unit includes both the body and a C12 film back, both manufactured in 1959. As an early production model, it features the distinctive pair of holes on the front panel. The lens is an early 6-element Planar from 1956. Also included is a rare short-type early lens hood from the same era, along with a simple, original-style strap.
A truly exceptional set that lets you fully experience the atmosphere of the early Hasselblad 500C.
Originally sold by our shop, this set has returned to us after being carefully used by its previous owner, remaining in the same condition as when it was last sold.
The body, lens, and magazine all present beautifully, with almost no signs of use—an exceptional 500C in near-mint condition. It is more suitable for collection than for regular use. There is some coating deterioration on the finder loupe glass, but it does not affect the viewing experience.
The camera body, lens, and magazine were overhauled in 2025. Thanks to thorough servicing, all operations retain a smooth and satisfying feel. A full overhaul for a Hasselblad can be quite costly, so acquiring a properly serviced example like this is highly recommended.
The 6-element Planar lens shows minor coating wear, but there is no haze or noticeable cleaning marks. Considering that many examples of this version tend to be quite worn, this is a rare specimen in excellent condition.
Comes with a quick case, strap, hood, filter, and lens cap. Please note that the case may cause marks when attaching or removing it, so it is best kept for display purposes.
A rare early 500C in such condition!
