Leitz vertical rangefinder FOKOS in chrome finish. This example is a late postwar version produced after 1949. Among them, it appears to be the final variant with the hexagonal Leitz logo engraved facing upward. The product code was FOKOS, later 14011. Meter scale.
Compared to the earlier horizontal HFOOK rangefinder, the accessory shoe was omitted and the design returned to the same vertical style as early rangefinders such as the FODIS. Beautifully finished with refined styling and superb precision craftsmanship. Overall length is just under 8cm. A perfect match for Leica Ic, If, and similar models!
Previously sold by our shop, this item has now found its way back to us after being carefully treasured by its owner.
There is just one extremely faint rub mark, but otherwise it shows almost no signs of use and remains in beautifully clean cosmetic condition.
Overhauled in 2023. There is a tiny bit of residue on the objective-side glass that could not be fully removed during cleaning, but it has no effect on the view and the finder remains clear. The rangefinder patch aligns perfectly at infinity.
The original box is also in beautiful condition, making this an excellent piece for collectors as well.
