Serial number in the 440,000 range, originally a Leica IIc made in 1948, later factory-converted by Leitz to IIIf Black Dial specifications.
The slow shutter speeds and sync number markings below the shutter speed dial were added, and parts such as the winding knob with built-in film indicator and the shutter speed dial up to 1/1000 were replaced with IIIf-spec components. However, the camera still retains the sharkskin-style vulcanite often seen on IIc models, giving this IIIf a slightly unusual and distinctive character.
A well-used body with plenty of character. There are many small marks and scuffs, and a noticeable dent on one corner of the bottom cover. However, there is no distortion, and it has no effect on use. This camera was enjoyed for shooting by one of our customers until recently.
There is some deterioration in the rangefinder prism, and the finder can appear slightly whitish in backlit conditions. In normal shooting, however, the double image is still clearly visible, so this should not affect practical use.
Operation has been checked, and the shutter feel is good.
This is a camera we hope you will take out without hesitation and use to your heart’s content.
