Leica M4 Black Paint. Leitz product code 10402. Serial number in the 1.28 million range, this example was delivered in February 1971.
The Leica M4 introduced a number of refined features that continue to be carried over to modern film Leicas, including the crank-type film rewind, brightline framelines for 35/50/90/135mm, a quick-loading system that eliminates the need for a removable spool, and other well-developed functions that earned strong support from professional photographers.
The M4 Black Paint, with its more modernized design, has a versatile character that pairs beautifully not only with black lenses but also with chrome-finished optics.
A fully original Leica M4 Black Paint. A faint linear ding is visible above the serial number on the top cover. In addition, the black paint has worn on areas frequently touched by fingers, with the underlying brass subtly showing through. The vulcanite covering is entirely original and remains in good condition. An ideal example to enjoy without hesitation.
Overhauled by a professional technician in April 2026. The shutter, film advance/rewind mechanisms, and the viewfinder have all been thoroughly serviced, resulting in excellent operation and a beautifully clear view.
