Summilux-M 35mm f1.4. Originally introduced in 1961, this is a reissue of the first-generation Summilux 35mm, commonly known as the Steel Rim, which continues to enjoy strong popularity and rising prices.
Released in 2022. Serial number in the 4.92 million range. Leica product code 11301.
In addition to the optical design, the dedicated hood OLLUX from the original model has also been faithfully reproduced. The filter size has been changed from E41 to E46.
Compared to the original Steel Rim Summilux 35mm, this version shows less peripheral softness wide open, offering a more controlled and cohesive rendering, while still retaining the beautifully soft character at or near maximum aperture. A lens that is truly enjoyable to shoot with.
Literally in like-new condition. No signs of use. It is so beautiful that it is indistinguishable from a brand-new item even when placed side by side.
Both the aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly, offering excellent handling. Rangefinder coupling is accurate, especially around wide open apertures, delivering a very atmospheric and characterful rendering. When stopped down to around f4, there is a slight tendency toward back focus at closer distances due to focus shift (based on our experience, this is commonly observed with this lens). For situations where shooting at f4 or smaller apertures is required, we recommend using live view.
The glass is crystal clear, free from haze or cleaning marks. Please enjoy its full original performance.
As original steel-rim versions have become increasingly difficult to obtain and very expensive, this reissue with its classical design is an excellent alternative.
It comes with an E46 screw-in 12486 hood, the OLLUX reissue 12487 hood, front and rear caps, inspection certificate, instruction manual, pouch, and original box.
