Leica Apo-Summicron-M 35mm f2 ASPH., product code 11699. Introduced in 2021, this ambitious lens embodies Leica’s pursuit of surpassing the limits of conventional optics. It is a high-resolution wide-angle lens.
It features a sophisticated optical design of 10 elements in 5 groups, including three aspherical elements. One of these has aspherical surfaces on both sides, resulting in a total of four aspherical surfaces. Unusually for a wide-angle lens, it also incorporates apochromatic correction.
The minimum focusing distance with rangefinder coupling is 0.7m, while live view allows close focusing down to 0.3m, offering excellent flexibility when used on digital M cameras.
It delivers remarkably solid image quality even wide open. In long-distance test shots, it can be difficult to tell whether the image was taken wide open or stopped down.
The included 12477 hood shows minor paint loss and small scratches on the edges, but the lens itself shows no signs of use and retains a like-new appearance.
The aperture and helicoid operate properly. The glass is free from haze and cleaning marks, remaining beautifully clear and crisp. The results of our test shooting were excellent. Rangefinder coupling is spot on even at full aperture (not coupled below 0.7m).
The original box, instruction manual, inspection certificate, leather case, hood, ring, dedicated front cap, rear cap and 13131 UVa filter are included.
New examples have become quite expensive. This is great news for those looking for a high-quality used piece in excellent condition.
