The first-generation Noctilux 50mm f1.2. Leica product code 11820. An early example in the 2.25 million serial range, manufactured in 1968.

The Noctilux was introduced in 1966 as Leica’s first lens to incorporate aspherical glass elements. It features a 4-group, 6-element construction. True to its name, meaning night light, the Noctilux offers excellent contrast even in very low light, and is renowned for its distinctive vignetting and unique bokeh, creating a truly one-of-a-kind rendering.

This particular example has been fully serviced, comes complete with its accessories, and remains in very clean condition.

Previously sold by our shop. Carefully used by the previous owner, it has now returned to us. This is the third time we are offering it for sale.

There is a slight paint loss on the helicoid ring, but otherwise there is almost no sign of use, and the exterior remains very clean. Even the outer edge of the filter rim, which is prone to wear, shows no noticeable use. The dedicated 12508 hood is also in equally clean condition.

The lens was fully overhauled at the time of the previous sale. For this offering, to ensure perfect condition, it received a light maintenance service in April 2026. All operations are smooth and pleasant, allowing you to fully concentrate on shooting. Rangefinder coupling is spot on, delivering a beautifully immersive rendering.

There is a slight age-related deterioration of the coating on an internal element, but it has virtually no effect on actual images. Aside from this, there are no noticeable cleaning marks, and for a Noctilux f1.2, the glass is in remarkably clean condition.
