Leitz VIOOH, the upright-image Vidom finder in black/chrome finish. Known overseas as the Imarect finder and in Japan as the upright Vidom, it was produced over a long period from around 1938 to 1964.
Features switchable frames for 35/50/85/90/135mm. As you change the focal length while looking through it, the frame smoothly narrows in a very distinctive, almost futuristic way. Parallax correction is indicated in feet.
Previously sold by our shop and now back with us after being carefully used by its owner.
The condition remains as good as when it was last sold. There is a faint scuff on the chrome plating near the frame size indicator. Minor paint loss can also be seen on the edges of the eyepiece and the top shoe, but otherwise there are no noticeable scratches, the black paint is well preserved, and overall it presents as a very clean example for a VIDOM finder.
Overhauled in 2025. Many VIDOM finders on the market today are sold as-is and often suffer from heavy haze, but this example offers a clear, crisp view and smooth operation.
Comes with a rare Leitz New York box.
