Macro-Switar f1.9 by Kern & Co., made in Switzerland. For Alpa mount. Feet scale. Total production was 6,303 units. Finished in black paint, its sharp, purposeful appearance pairs beautifully with modern mirrorless cameras.
The Macro-Switar was redesigned in 1968 from a 5-group, 7-element f1.8 to a 5-group, 8-element f1.9. Compared to the f1.8, it offers a sharper rendering and higher contrast, especially at or near full aperture. Both versions remain outstanding lenses, each with its own character.
The Macro-Switar features apochromatic correction, delivering excellent color reproduction and strong close-focus performance. The bokeh is also very pleasing. Highly regarded among digital camera users, it remains a very popular lens.
This item was previously sold by our store and has now returned to us after being carefully used by its owner.
The exterior shows some paint wear on the helicoid and aperture rings from normal use. It is in a condition well-suited for practical use without hesitation. There are no dents or impact marks.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2025. Thanks to careful servicing, the operation of the aperture, helicoid, and other components remains very smooth. The aperture blades are also clean.
There is some aging-related coating deterioration on a few glass surfaces, but it has virtually no effect on actual shooting. There are no noticeable cleaning marks or haze. You can fully enjoy the original rendering of the Switar f1.9.
It comes with genuine front and rear caps for the f1.9, a replacement filter with new glass, and a metal hood from the earlier Macro Switar f1.8 era. The hood shows considerable signs of use.
A well-equipped set, ideal for practical use.
