Non-coated Elmar 35mm f3.5. Leitz product code EKURZ. Serial number in the 470,000 range, manufactured in 1938. Meter scale. 4 elements in 3 groups.
Among Leitz products, this is the second thinnest lens after the Hektor 28mm. Mounted on a Barnack Leica or even an M-type Leica, its remarkable compactness gives outstanding mobility. One more lens in the camera bag? Easy.
Wide open, it delivers an atmospheric rendering with characteristic vignetting. Though orthodox in design, the more you use it, the deeper and more rewarding it becomes — a lens that never grows tiresome. A long-beloved standard Leica wide-angle lens, now enjoying renewed appreciation in recent years.
Compatible hoods are the FLQOO or FOOKH. It can also be used with the Flashback Camera original FB-07 hood for Elmar, featuring built-in aperture operation functionality.
The lens shows very little sign of use, with no noticeable scratches or scuffs. The chrome finish still retains a brilliance reminiscent of when it was new.
Fully overhauled in May 2026. Thanks to the careful servicing, the operation of each part, including the aperture ring and helicoid, is now exceptionally smooth. Rangefinder coupling is spot on.
Matching its beautiful exterior, the glass is also remarkably clean, free from cleaning marks or haze, with a wonderfully crisp and transparent look.
The results of our test shooting were excellent as well. Enjoy the distinctive rendering unique to an uncoated Elmar, with its gentle and subdued color tones.
Original front and rear caps are included.
