Summaron 35mm f2.8, commonly known as the Nipachi Summaron. Leitz product code SIMOM-M, later code 11306. Serial number in the 2.05 million range, made in Germany in 1964.
Although it retains the same 4-group, 6-element optical construction as the earlier Summaron f3.5, the adoption of new glass types gave it a brighter maximum aperture. Color reproduction and resolving power were also improved. Even wide open, it delivers sharp images with a pleasing amount of natural vignetting, producing wonderfully atmospheric rendering.
The infinity lock was redesigned as well, giving it an appearance strikingly similar to the legendary Summicron 35mm 8-element introduced the same year. It also pairs beautifully with modern digital Leica M bodies.
Filter size is E39. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. Actual measured weight is 184g.
Compatible hoods are the ITDOO and IROOA.

Shows minimal signs of use and retains a clean, well-kept appearance. Even the front edge of the aluminum filter rim remains free from noticeable scratches or wear.
Fully overhauled in May 2026. Both the aperture ring and helicoid have been beautifully tuned, offering a smooth, damped feel throughout operation. Even the way the infinity lock settles into place has been finely adjusted with care. Rangefinder coupling is spot-on, and focus accuracy is excellent.
The glass shows slight coating deterioration on an inner element, though it has virtually no effect on actual photography. Otherwise, there are no cleaning marks or haze, making this an exceptionally clean example for a Summaron 35mm f2.8, a lens well known for developing haze over time.
During servicing, the internal anti-reflection lacquer was also carefully reapplied, contributing to improved contrast and a more refined rendering. The lens performed beautifully in practical shooting tests.
