Topcor 35mm f2.8. Made by Tokyo Kogaku. A symmetrical design with 4 groups and 6 elements. Introduced in 1955 as an interchangeable lens for Leotax cameras.
The barrel is made of lightweight aluminum and brass, weighing in at 154g. Marked in feet. The white anodized finish gives it a distinctive appearance. Tokyo Kogaku products from this era are known for their superb craftsmanship, and this piece is no exception—beautifully made and a pleasure to admire.
Although not included here, the dedicated brilliant finder originally sold with this lens is said to be the largest ever made for a 35mm camera. With a life-size view, it allows shooting with both eyes open. Its humorous look has made it popular on its own, earning the nickname Ghost Finder. Mounted on a camera, it creates a truly unique appearance.
A lens with excellent rendering.
This item was previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by the previous owner and retains the same appearance as when we last sold it. There is a very slight plating wear below the infinity lock pin and to the left of the 3.5 feet minimum focus index, but there are no dents or impacts, and it remains in very clean cosmetic condition.
Fully overhauled in 2025. Thanks to meticulous servicing, the operation of all moving parts, including the aperture and helicoid, is exceptionally smooth. The glass shows only very minor coating wear, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, remaining clear and bright.
It delivers a refined and delicate rendering, beautifully reproducing fine details with a calm and smooth character. Colors are rich, and when stopped down slightly, it produces very sharp and powerful images.
Sample images from the previous sale are available in our test gallery. We hope you will take a look.
Important note: Do not mount or remove the lens while holding the aperture ring, as this may damage the aperture blades.
Comes with an original aluminum front cap.
