Leica Summicron 35mm f2, 8-element Black Paint. Serial number 2.13 million, manufactured in 1965. Red scale distance markings. Made in Germany. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. Leitz product code SAWOM.
Often referred to as the Black Paint model, though in reality most of the barrel is finished in black chrome. The coating shows purple/amber tones. The mount section is chrome plated, while the infinity lock is brass with black paint finish. Weight is 182g.
Nicely used over the years, with a handsome worn-in character from regular handling. A perfect companion for Leica M3, M2, and M4 Black Paint bodies.
Natural paint wear can be seen on the front edge of the filter rim, aperture ring, focusing knob, infinity lock, and other areas frequently touched by hand. There are no dents or dings.
Fully overhauled in May 2026, including focus calibration. Thanks to the careful servicing, all moving parts such as the aperture ring and focusing ring now operate with a beautifully smooth and satisfying feel. Even the infinity lock settles gently and naturally into place with a pleasing click.
The front element shows some coating deterioration, the rear element has a few very minor cleaning marks, and the middle element displays fine linear coating blemishes, but these should have no effect on actual image quality.
Rangefinder coupling is spot on. The coating remains well preserved throughout. Test shooting results were also excellent.
Comes with the original aluminum front cap, original rear cap, and a black-rim UVa filter.
