Nikon S3 Olympic. Striking black paint finish. Serial number 632xxxx. Released seven years after the original Nikon S3, this model was reissued for press use during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and is also known as the re-production model. Approximately 2,000 units were produced.
Equipped with a titanium shutter curtain. The distance scale on the camera body is in meters. The finder features 35/50/105mm framelines.
The dedicated Nikkor 50mm f1.4 was redesigned from the earlier 3-group 7-element Sonnar-type formula to a 5-group 7-element Gauss-type construction, and finished entirely in black. It is commonly referred to as the Olympic Nikkor.
Shows almost no signs of use. A superb example that would also make an impressive display piece in a collection.
Showing very little signs of use, this set remains in exceptionally beautiful condition. At first glance, it could easily be mistaken for the 2000 reissue version. The black paint still retains its original matte texture.
Under the previous owner, the camera body was overhauled by a repair specialist in Tokyo in February 2026. To ensure everything was in top condition, we also had the lens fully overhauled by a professional technician in April 2026. Both the camera and lens operate perfectly. The finder is beautifully clear, and the contrast of the rangefinder patch remains excellent.
The lens shows slight coating deterioration visible only under strong LED light, but it should have virtually no effect on actual photography.
Covered by our 6-month warranty. As with our other cameras, paid servicing will also be available after the warranty period expires.
Included are the outer box and original box (both without matching serial numbers), Japanese instruction manual, leather camera case, hood, and front cap. The leather case for the hood is a third-party item.
