Tele-Elmarit 90mm f2.8. Serial number in the 2.21 million range, produced in 1966. Manufactured by Leitz Canada. Finished in black chrome. This is the later version with the yellow distance scale. Leitz product code 11800.
Although a telephoto lens with a practical maximum aperture of f2.8, it is beautifully designed with a size comparable to large-aperture 50mm lenses. The finely cut knurling reminiscent of the Summilux 50mm adds to its elegant appearance. Its moderate weight and well-positioned helicoid make it very comfortable to operate.
At or near full aperture it delivers a pleasantly soft rendering, while stopping down quickly increases contrast, producing rich and full-bodied images. A compact medium-telephoto lens that makes an excellent companion for travel.
The compatible hood is 12575. Filter size is E39.

This item was previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by the customer and has now returned to us.
Just as when it was last sold, there is only very slight black chrome wear on the helicoid ring and aperture ring. Overall, it remains a very clean example. It also matches beautifully with modern digital Leica M bodies.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2024. Thanks to careful servicing, the aperture and helicoid retain the same smooth, damped operation as when we last sold it. Rangefinder coupling is spot on and focusing is accurate.
The glass shows very slight coating wear, but there are no cleaning marks or haze and it remains very clear. You can fully enjoy the characteristic rendering of the Tele-Elmarit.
